Mr. Armstrong’s Thoughts- Day 6&7

30 06 2007

Two wonderfully busy days!

The experience at the Ritz Carlton was priceless.  Our host was gracious enough to give us a tour of the behind the scenes of the hotel.   Our students were very professional and conducted a wonderful interview with the help of the students from Tamagawa.

Meeting with Covey organization was very similar to many meetings I have set in with Ms. Summers and Mrs. Winters where people asked about the model.   The four business leaders wanted to know how we started, data that shows it works, and specifics of how it is implemented.    They would also like to attend our leadership day in October.   I told them I would be meeting with Ms. Summers and Mrs. Winters when I returned and the school would contact them about the visit if possible.   Summers/Winters is even a funny word play in Japanese.

On the train- I think I  have figured the Train system out  If I can find signs written in Ramangi (Roman alphabet) I have no problem.   And I have taken the same paths enough now that I can get two and from several places without having to ask for help.     Yesterday, the students and I met the host parents by ourselves while the Katsuse’s took care of some business.

My day off!   I did what I like to do most in a new city.   I got lost.    I spent the day in Shunjuki and Odaka.   Seeing sites, going to shops, forcing myself to use my limited Japanese.   I spent a bit of time in the times square version in Tokyo but more time on side roads walking in and out of shops interacting with locals.

I am packing up my room today.  We are exploring with the Katsuse family today and then checking into a hotel closer to the airport.   We will all try to make our final posts tonight.

only hours of fun left here….but seems like days before we are home (not looking forward to the return flight)

Fun in the Sun

30 06 2007

Today I went to an amusement park and went to China town. At the amusement park I went on this roller coaster that is CRAZY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Totally Radical dude. It goes Super high and then flies down (not literally) under this water ride, it is awesome. What you do is you go really high for like a minute then you go a little bit and when you least expect it it streams down really fast. There is this water ride and they made a hole underneath it so the roller-coaster can go underneath it. Then the water ride is awesome too. You know those water rides at the NC fair… well it is just like that accept you go three times faster on the last fall. I screamed like a girl. Then I went in a scare house and it was scary but I could stand it. The funny thing is, is that I didn’t know whaty it was until I went inside because it was all in Japaneese. I went in all alone and I had this candle that was burning out andit was completly dark. I rushed down the first hallway swiftly and ran into a mirror. :D then I turned the corner and a fake person popped out. Then the mist made a horrifying sound and pushed on my shoulders. After that I rushed to find the doors and a man dressed in a ghost suit popped out and started banging on things and I was almost running now. He popped out again before the ending but I was ready though. Plus it tells you your scare score and mine was only 6 out of 10 from 1-10. After, I went to the Ice house thingy. It is -30 c I went 4 times and one time I stayed for 5 min. It is freeeeeeeeeeeeeeeezing cold. To add onto that I had on a T-Shirt and shorts. It was made out of ice sculptures and I almost put my tounge on one. (^^) It’s kool.

Earlier I went rock climbing on this really hard course that was made for older people than me. It was really fun.

I also went to China town. It was just like China. :D You know what was really nice, Mrs. Amono bought me this Humongo piggy bank. I had to borrow there suitcase it’s so big. Anyway, here are some pics of today.
